Telkomsel gprs, between apn internet and apn telkomsel

November 13th, 2008 | by Hideident |

Since yesterday I switched sim card on my blackberry from Matrix to Simpati. one of blackberry advantage is, when we switch from one provider to another, the WAP setting will be automatically configured. like what my experience yesterday. my blackberry automatically configured using APN telkomsel for WAP profile.

the problem is, when i surfing using APN telkomsel, it is often disconnected, and the data speed is very slow. very different with matrix, like earth and sky, ehheheeheh

then i make experiment “trial and error” by manually configured the apn , using apn “internet” ,because as far as i know, telkomsel has 3 type of apn:

- “telkomsel” for wap packet
- “internet” for internet general packet
- MMS APN , i dont know exactly this kind of apn, because i never used it.

based on my experiment, i can make a conclusion that actually , apn “intenet” is more stable and faster then apn “telkomsel” . i have tried it.

if you have same problem like me, just try to do like what i have done.

this post is written using : APN internet , username : wap , password : wap123
Carrier : IND-TELKOMSEL
Device : Blackberry
Browser : Opera

    Hi there..
I’m also indonesian and a blackberry user.
I recently joined the simpati pre-paid blackberry.

Then for the last 3 days I still can use my blackberry service in Singapore..but suddenly today all the BB service is gone, the icon is not showing GPRS or blackberry icon.
It was roaming to SingTel, then when I asked the Simpati Call Center, they asked me to switch to other network i.e. Starhub / M1, but doesn’t seem work as well..

    Please advise.
    Thanks.

    Hi Richard,
i didnt have any experience using Telkomsel BB on singapore, but based on my last problem, Just try the following Step:
    - Manually, Remove ALL Service book on your Device, ALL
    - then Hard Reboot your device (unplug the batteries)
    - Select a network you desire.

Hope it works for you too.
